I found a really easy step-by-step tutorial on how the “Average Joe” can make his own laptop sleeve for under $5 bucks.

Now don’t worry - it’s not a girly sewing project either!

Best Laptops for Kids

Hi!

Any laptop can be a good laptop for kids if you can teach them how to use it.  And not break it!

But before going out and spending $500 bucks or more…

Make sure your kids really need a laptop…and not just want to have a laptop to look cool!

The Asus Eee Pc 4G is a good choice for a laptop for kids because it includes a bunch of software for kids.

It runs an estimated $400.  PC magazine has tested the Asus Eee and concludes it’s a great bargain.

But for $80 dollars more,  I like the MSI Wind.  It would make a great laptop for kids.  And it comes in black, silver, white, and PINK! 

Basically, any laptop under $500 would be a good laptop for kids.

I’m a cheapskate…so the best rated laptop for me is under $500.  Even better would be $100 bucks!  I know…it’s a pipe dream.

It can be kinda confusing when you’re looking for a cheap laptop. 

The Best Cheap Laptop Buying Guides answer:

What size processor do you need? 

Experts agree a Core 2 Duo is essential.

How much memory do you need? 

Get as much RAM as you can afford.  But get at least 1 GB.

What about hard drive size? 

Don’t worry about this unless you have massive storage needs.  Most cheap laptops come with 80 GB hard drives, which will hold thousands of MP3s and photographs.

Do you need an extended warranty? 

Cheap laptops come with a one year limited warranty.  Extended warranties are expensive and not worth the money.

Do you need a video card?  

Integrated video is included in the price of cheap laptops.  You’ll need a video card if you plan on playing a lot of games.  But it won’t be possible in a cheap laptop.

What type of internet connection options do you need? 

Cheap laptops come with built-in wireless networking, which lets you connect to a Wi-Fi network. Most laptops do not include a modem to connect to dial up. Ethernet connectors for broadband are standard, but you should verify this before buying.  

What type of optical drive is best?

What Type Of Gaming Laptop is Best?

So what’s the best gaming laptops?

That really depends. 

But you’ll definitely need powerful graphics cards, the fastest processors, very large hard drives, tons of memory, and big screens.

And a bundle of cash. (more on that later!)

Here’s the key features of a good gaming laptop:

• Advanced NVIDIA or ATI dedicated graphics card with 256MB or more dedicated memory. For ultimate gaming performance a dual NVIDIA SLI graphics solution is recommended.
• Intel Core 2 Extreme or Intel Core 2 Duo recommend for the best performance hands down. An AMD Turion 64 X2 is also a decent option.
• 2GB of memory recommended at the minimum. Get as much as you can afford to have the most rewarding gaming or multimedia experience.
• Get the largest and fasted hard drive that you can afford. Anything less than 120GB capacity and 7200RPM rotational speed is not recommended for hardcore gaming and multimedia chores.
• Most gaming notebooks are going to have at least a 15.4-inch screen or larger. A 17-inch is a must for hardcore users.
• We recommend a dual-layer DVD burner or Blu-Ray drive if you can afford or have the need for one. Currently Blu-Ray isn’t going to be worth the price premium for everyone.
• Windows Vista Home Premium or Ultimate is recommended for this class of notebook.
